A solo exhibition of paintings of Rahul Thomas Venkatesh called A Collection of Images will be held from September 11 to 17 at the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat. This seven painting series is about the passing of his grandfather, from the layered and often overlapping perspectives of religious mythology. The work can be described as large format, quasi-surrealist oil on canvas paintings. Rahul was born in Bangalore, but raised in Syracuse, New York. He started his higher education as a medical student but left that to pursue art after rediscovering a long forgotten love of drawing and being introduced to painting in 2002. He studied illustration at Syracuse University and has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. During his time at Syracuse University, he did some independent study under Jerome Witkin, one of the most highly regarded figure painters. Rahul is currently working here in Bangalore. The exhibition timing is 11 am to 7 pm.
